Who will win Euro 2024? What the experts are predicting
Micah Richards - England
© Reuters
"I don't want to sound cliche, but I think England can win it and the reason I'm saying that is the quality throughout the starting lineup.
"We've got the best player in Germany in Harry Kane, one of the best players in Spain in Jude Bellingham – although he has slowed up over the last few months as he's started a bit higher – and Phil Foden who has just lit up the Premier League alongside Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka, who have been unbelievable."
It is hard to argue with Richards that England can win the Euros with the quality of their squad. Foden, Palmer and Saka all had impressive seasons in the Premier League, and will cause opposition defences plenty of problems at the Euros.
That said, some may debate whether Kane is the best player in Germany, as Bayer Leverkusen's German 'enfant terrible' Florian Wirtz won the Bundesliga's Player of the Season award.
However, there is no doubt that Bellingham is one of the best players in Spain, given his goal numbers for Real Madrid from midfield - he managed 19 La Liga goals in his debut campaign at the Bernabeu, putting him joint-third with seasoned frontman Robert Lewandowski.
Laura Woods - England
Woods claims it will be a "huge letdown" if England do not reach the "latter stages" of Euro 2024, and has predicted the Three Lions to win the tournament.
Gareth Southgate's men should be aiming to reach the latter stages as Woods claims, but whether they will actually win the Euros is another question. France have a strong squad that can match theirs, while hosts Germany boast some phenomenal talent that they will hope can take them all the way.
Of course, England have never won the Euros before either, so that is something that will always haunt them until they lift the trophy.
Ian Wright - England
"Semi-finals or bust – anything less will be a disappointment – and they have a genuine shot at the trophy."
Wright takes a similar stance with England in that they have to be aiming to make at least the semi-finals. Given the quality of their squad, the Three Lions should absolutely see themselves as one of the four best teams heading into Germany.
However, sometimes teams rely on a favourable draw in knockout football to get them further into the tournament, and should England draw one of the other pre-tournament favourites like France or Germany in the quarter-finals or sooner, it could well spell an early exit.
