Sam Allardyce arrives for Crystal Palace talks

Sam Allardyce arrives at the Crystal Palace training ground ahead of talks over the vacant managerial position at Selhurst Park.

Sam Allardyce has moved a step closer to being named as the new manager of Crystal Palace after he arrived at the club's training ground for talks with chairman Steve Parish.

The former England boss has been linked with Palace for a number of weeks and after Alan Pardew was sacked on Thursday, it was quickly suggested that the Eagles would press forward with a move for the 62-year-old.

Less than 24 hours after Pardew's departure, Allardyce made an appearance at the club's training facilities and confirmed that he was in negotiations with the club.

He told Sky Sports News: "I'm just here to talk to Steve and if everything goes alright, it should be ok. It's still early days so we will wait and see."

If Palace confirm the appointment of Allardyce, it will be his first role since he was removed from his position as England boss in September as a result of an investigation into corruption in football by The Telegraph.
