Alan Pardew: 'Bournemouth were relentless'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is full of praise for Bournemouth following the goalless draw between the two sides at Dean Court.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has hailed the work-rate of Bournemouth following the goalless draw between the two sides on Boxing Day.

The Eagles failed to record a third consecutive victory having been held to the stalemate, although the point was enough to see them climb above Manchester United into fifth place in the Premier League table.

Pardew was full of praise for the Cherries after the match, acknowledging that the hosts had made it difficult for his side at the Vitality Stadium.

"Their work-rate was phenomenal. They wouldn't let us have a rest, they wouldn't let us keep the ball," he told reporters.

"I had to bring on Yohan Cabaye to try and get some of the ball and in the last few minutes I thought it showed. Bournemouth really couldn't raise a leg at that period - probably our best period of the game - so I am full of admiration for what they did today.

"Physically, mentally it was a tough game. You have to take your hat off to Bournemouth, they were relentless."

The Eagles are now unbeaten in five Premier League matches, their best run since April 2014.
