Barcelona are allegedly on the brink of facilitating a permanent exit for an expensive flop that is currently on loan elsewhere.

Barcelona are allegedly closing in on a agreeing a deal for the exit of one of their out-of-favour youngsters.

The Catalan giants are currently enjoying an outstanding first campaign under Hansi Flick, already winning the Supercopa Espana and pushing for success in La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Flick's side currently sit at the top of the La Liga table, albeit on goal difference, and have a Champions League last-16 showdown with Benfica on the horizon.

Off the pitch, Barcelona's financial situation has also improved to such an extent where they may be able to show more ambition in the transfer market in the summer.

According to Sport, a scenario could unfold where their coffers are subsequently boosted through the sale of a player who has no future at the club.

Roque to return to Brazil?

The report alleges that Palmeiras are pushing to secure a deal for Vitor Roque, who is currently on loan at La Liga outfit Real Betis.

Roque was loaned out last summer in a bid to earn regular football having failed to make an impression in his first five months at Barcelona from January 2024 onwards.

While he has made a total of 33 appearances for Betis in all competitions, the attacker has only contributed seven goals and two assists, with two of his strikes coming against lower-league opposition in the Copa del Rey.

Palmeiras are reportedly willing to pay €25m (£20.7m) to finalise a deal before Friday's transfer deadline.

Prior to his move to Barcelona, Roque had recorded 28 goals and 11 assists from 81 appearances for Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.

Will Betis allow transfer to be completed?

Betis are under no obligation to give the green light to a transfer and may insist on any move being delayed until the end of their season.

As well as sitting in seventh position in the La Liga table, Manuel Pellegrini's side are also in the last 16 of the Conference League.

With Roque having 19 starts under his belt this season, it is clear that he remains relied upon by Pellegrini, and Betis would realistically insist on being financially compensated if they are to allow the player to leave Estadio Benito Villamarin at this stage.
