Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen on the signing of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi during the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old has suffered from a hamstring injury this season, preventing him from playing consistently for the struggling Foxes in the Premier League.

That being said, Ndidi started and managed 85 minutes during Leicester's clash with title-chasing Arsenal at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It appeared as if the Foxes were on course for a valuable point in the East Midlands, before Mikel Merino arrived off the bench and bagged a brace for the Gunners.

After 25 matches of their return to the top flight, Leicester are languishing down in 19th position, two points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers in 17th.

Atletico Madrid eyeing summer swoop for Ndidi?

According to CaughtOffside, a Spanish giant is targeting the capture of long-serving Leicester star Ndidi during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report claims that Atletico Madrid are still keen on the services of the 28-year-old, despite failing to seal a deal in January for the player.

It is understood that Leicester were not willing to part ways with Ndidi, who is set to be a key part of Ruud van Nistelrooy's survival push.

As well as Diego Simeone's troops, it is believed that Real Betis and Monaco are also in the race to sign the Nigeria international over the summer.

The French club supposedly submitted an offer totalling £20m for Ndidi over the winter trading point - a proposal that was ultimately snubbed by Leicester.

Leicester's midfield options

After struggling for regular minutes under former boss Steve Cooper, Ndidi has returned from injury and won the favour of Van Nistelrooy.

The midfield enforcer is a first-choice option for the Dutch boss alongside Boubakary Soumare in the Foxes' engine room at this current stage.

There are also respectable options in reserve for relegation-fighting Leicester, including ex-Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp.
