Monaco bans Anderlecht fans from entering principality

Monaco bans Anderlecht fans from entering the principality for the Europa League clash with AS Monaco on November 26.

The Monaco government has banned Anderlecht fans from entering the principality for the Belgian side's Europa League clash with AS Monaco on November 26 in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

After attacks across the French capital on Friday night killed 129 people, the friendly international between Belgium and Spain, due to take place on Tuesday in Anderlecht's home city of Brussels, was cancelled due to security fears.

Matches in France's top two divisions will go ahead this weekend, albeit without the presence of away fans, but Monaco has taken the step of banning Anderlecht fans from even entering the principality for the European clash later this month.

AS Monaco said in a statement: "The Monaco government has made the decision to ban the presence of the Anderlecht fans from its territory, and consequently at the Stade Louis II, on Thursday, November 26, [the] date of the game between the two sides in the Europa League.

"This decision follows the dramatic events that happened in Paris, prompting the Monaco principality to raise its vigilance level and prioritise the mobilisation of the police forces."

Monaco added that UEFA and Anderlecht have backed the decision.
