City's previous transfer dealings with the Italian club means that they have struck up a healthy relationship with the Serie A outfit.

­Matija Nastasic arrived at the Etihad Stadium from the Viola last summer in a switch that saw Stefan Savic move the other way.

Jovetic, 23, could yet join the former Premier League champions despite reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, according to The Mirror.

The Montenegro international scored 13 goals in the league for Fiorentina last season.
