Arsene Wenger 'sad' following Brendan Rodgers sacking

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals his sadness at the sacking of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers following the Anfield club's difficult start to the new season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he has found the sacking of Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers 'sad'.

Rodgers was relieved of his duties on Sunday evening following a difficult start to the new season, and Wenger has since spoken out to praise the qualities of the 42-year-old following his dismissal.

"I am always sad when that happens because I think he is a quality manager," said Wenger, according to talkSPORT.

"Unfortunately, the pressure is always bigger on the managers and to resist the disappointment is more difficult.

"I think he was unlucky not to win the Premiership. He was the closest certainly to win the Premiership of all the managers who have been working for the club. But that's the way it goes now and I wish him good luck. I am sure he will find a job again."

Rodgers leaves Liverpool in 10th place in the Premier League table after eight games of the new campaign.
