Fixed matches shock Theo Walcott

Arsenal striker Theo Walcott expresses his disbelief at findings that a large number of football matches have been fixed.

Theo Walcott has admitted that he has been left "completely shocked" by revelations that the outcome of a large number of football matches have been fixed.

A investigation carried out by European police found that 380 matches, including a Champions League encounter in England, had been rigged by those looking to make money on the betting markets.

Speaking about the findings, Arsenal attacker Walcott insisted that it is something that must be eradicated from the game as soon as possible.

"It's something that we don't want involved in the sport at all, in any sport, let along being part of that," he said.

"So, I'm completely shocked, I don't want to be related to anything like that, I'm sure none of you guys do either. It's something in the game that we need to get out."

Europol's investigation lasted around 18 months.
