A report claims that former Arsenal midfielder Edu is to return to the club as their new technical director once his contract with the Brazil national side expires.

Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of confirming the appointment of former midfielder Edu as their new technical director.

The Gunners have been on the lookout for someone to work alongside head of football Raul Sanllehi from the summer onwards.

According to the Daily Mail, Edu has already been liaising with Sanllehi on possible targets and his arrival is close to being made official.

Edu, who won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups during his playing days at Arsenal, is currently contracted to the Brazil national side as their general coordinator.

Arsenal are said to be happy to wait until after the Copa America in July, when the ex-midfielder's contract expires, to get him on their books on a full-time basis.
