England coach Trevor Bayliss calls for the abolition of Twenty20 international matches.

England coach Trevor Bayliss has called for Twenty20 internationals to be scrapped.

The 55-year-old said that the short-form matches should be exclusive to franchises, rather than national teams.

"I wouldn't play T20 internationals," he told Sky Sports News.

"If you want to play a World Cup every four years, maybe six months before let international teams play T20. I would just let the franchises play."

Franchises made up of international players compete in lucrative T20 competitions, including the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash League.

England's first franchised T20 event is due to begin in 2020.
