Lawrence Clarke "disappointed" with 110m hurdles time

Lawrence Clarke admits that he is "disappointed" with his 110m hurdles time in the Birmingham Diamond League meet, despite clocking a season's best.

Lawrence Clarke has admitted that he was "disappointed" with his time in the 110m hurdles event at the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham this afternoon.

Clarke recorded a season's best time of 13.53s at the Alexander Stadium, but only managed to finish in fifth place.

However, the 25-year-old was keen to look to the future and hopes to earn a place in the team for the World Championships in Beijing this August.

"I was quite disappointed with the time, but only finished my dissertation on Monday and Tuesday so I'm just glad to be back running, and obviously to run a season's best," Clarke told Sports Mole.

"I'm running in Morocco next weekend which hopefully will be a good race. I don't think I've been that focused in the last couple of weeks on this, and that's probably my weakness today, being thrown into the deep end with the Diamond League.

"It's another level, a completely different level - these guys don't hang around. You get to hurdle two and suddenly you realise that they're ahead of you! I'm going to keep working hard and the World Championships are a long way away - selection is at the end of July and hopefully I can get in there."

Cuba's Orlando Ortega won the event in Birmingham with a time of 13.20s.
