Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier says that the team do not need running back Adrian Peterson to gain over 2,000 rushing yards for the team to win.

Leslie Frazier has said that the Minnesota Vikings can be successful without Adrian Peterson recording over 2,000 rushing yards in 2013.

The running back carried the ball for 2,097 yards last season, helping the team to reach the playoffs for the first time in three years.

The team's head coach told The AP: "It's not imperative that [Peterson] rushed for 2,000 yards, or 2,500 yards, for us to win.

"Our offense always is going to run through Adrian, but we want to be able to pass the ball better than we did a year ago."

Peterson was named the league's Most Valuable Player following his performances in 2012.
