Julia Mancuso: "I made some big mistakes"

United States downhill skier Julia Mancuso admits that she is hugely disappointed with her performance in her event as she missed out on her second medal of the Games.

United States skier Julia Mancuso has revealed her disappointment over missing out on a medal in the downhill event in the Winter Olympics.

Mancuso finished in eighth place after being tipped to place in the top three, but missed out as Dominique Gisin and Tina Maze shared the gold medal with a time of 1:41.57 on the course.

"I am disappointed with my skiing, I made some big mistakes," Mancuso told reporters. "It's tough and really difficult to stay focused on the whole run, but that's what separates the champions from the rest of us on race day."

Mancuso won bronze earlier in the week in the women's super combined event.
