Andrew Musgrave turns attention to team sprint event

Team GB skier Andrew Musgrave feels that he is improving with every race in Sochi and wants to continue doing so into his preferred team sprint event next week.

Team GB skier Andrew Musgrave is determined to put in a good display in the team sprint event after admitting that things did not work out for him in the men's 15km classic.

The 23-year-old finished 44th in the cross-country event, sandwiched between compatriots Andrew Young (37th) and Callum Smith (67th).

Musgrave feels that he could not push on from a promising start to Friday's event, but has insisted that he is improving throughout the Sochi Games and wants to continue doing so in his preferred team sprint next week.

"Today I felt a little bit better," he told reporters. "I felt I opened off at the speed I normally would do and up until about halfway it was going alright.

"Usually I open off at that speed and I can increase for the second half whereas today I felt I started off at good speed but at halfway instead of being able to increase I just died.

"There is still next week and the team sprint and the 50km, so hopefully I will take it a little bit easier in the next few days. I felt like today was my weaker discipline, the sprint should be my best event, and I felt a little bit better although my position wasn't good. Physically I felt better."

Young and Smith have admitted that they struggled in the unfamiliarly hot conditions.
