Team GB's Andrew Young: 'I skied to my best'

Team GB skier Andrew Young feels that he skied to the best of his ability in warm Sochi conditions to be the best performing Briton in the 15km cross-country event.

Andrew Young has described himself as "really happy" after he responded to disappointment in the sprint to lead Team GB over the line in the cross-country skiing.

Young was the best British athlete in the men's 15km classic as he placed 37th in a time of 41:29.6.

He is more comfortable over shorter distances but did not perform to expectations in his favoured sprint event, so Young was delighted to be able to ski to his full potential in warm Sochi conditions.

"It was an awesome race, I am really happy. I really enjoyed myself and skied to the best of my ability in these conditions," he told reporters.

"The sprint is my favoured event, so I think I put a lot of expectations on myself in the sprint and I was really angry that I didn't ski to my potential.

"I am really happy, this isn't my favoured event and I just really enjoyed skiing and didn't think about the result. I just focused on myself, my technique, relaxed into it and really enjoyed my skiing and that was really fun.

Young's teammates Andrew Musgrave and Callum Smith finished 44th and 67th respectively.
