John Baines: "I'm still in shock"

Great Britain's John Baines admits that he is still getting over the fact that he is competing in the Winter Olympics.

Great Britain's John Baines has admitted that he is still in "shock" to be competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics after replacing Craig Pickering in the bobsleigh.

Baines and his teammate Lamin Deen were in action on Sunday and finished in 23rd in the first day of the event.

Baines told the Belfast Telegraph: "I'm still in shock from going from not competing in the Games two weeks ago, to competing in the two-man and four-man event.

"Competing and training with Craig, who's such a high-calibre athlete, I like to think that he has mentored me and the rest of the team preparing for us to go to the Games and compete."

Team GB need to finish in the top 20 later today to have a chance at getting a fourth run in the event.
