The 23-year-old, whose father Helmut won an Olympic silver medal 26 years ago, was fastest during downhill training on Friday.

"I'm not under pressure," The AP quotes him as saying. "It's totally the opposite. I feel free."

Mayer was timed in 2 minutes and 6.51 seconds on Friday, 0.27s ahead of Carlo Janka of Switzerland.
