Samantha Stosur has insisted that she remains confident heading into Wimbledon after crashing out of the Eastbourne International in the first round.
A 7-5 7-6 defeat to Tsvetana Pironkova was the Australian number one's first outing on grass this year, but she insists that her form in grass is not affecting her approach as she bids for a second Grand Slam title.
"She's a good player, especially on grass. You'd have to say grass is where she's had her best results," Stosur told AAP. "So I actually played some pretty decent tennis out there. Overall I was actually quite pleased with the way I was hitting it. I was doing some things quite positively.
"You've obviously got to put it together in that first round, but I'm still confident I can play well and get some wins. Who knows if that's going to happen, but I'm at least confident that I can do that."
Stosur has never made it past the third round at Wimbledon in 12 attempts.
