Eugenie Bouchard has insisted that she is proud of her run at this year's Wimbledon, despite losing to Petra Kvitova in the final.
Playing in her first Grand Slam final, the 20-year-old Canadian was thrashed 6-3 6-0 on Saturday as Kvitova clinched the title for a second time.
"First of all I want to congratulate Petra - she played fantastic for these two weeks," Bouchard is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"It was really tough for me today but I am proud of how I have played for these two weeks. I love coming back to Wimbledon so thank you guys.
"I feel like it's a step in the right direction. I'm not sure I deserve all your love today but I certainly appreciate it."
Bouchard has reached at least the semi-finals of all three Grand Slams so far this year.
