Novak Djokovic handed walkover at US Open after Jiri Vesely withdrawal

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is through to the US Open third round after Jiri Vesely pulled out with an arm injury.

Novak Djokovic has been handed a walkover at the US Open after Jiri Vesely pulled out of their second-round contest.

The world number one seemed to struggle with an arm injury during his opening clash with Jerzy Janowicz, and his match with Vesely had been highly-anticipated with the Czech hitter having already defeated Djokovic this season.

However, the defending champion has been gifted his spot in the last 32 after Vesely was forced to withdraw with an arm injury.

Djokovic will now face either Guido Pella or Mikhail Youzhny for a place in the fourth round.
