Andy Murray: 'Extra rest helped me beat Thomaz Bellucci'

Andy Murray thanks the US Open organisers for giving him a night-session slot for his third-round match against Thomaz Bellucci.

Andy Murray has thanked the US Open organisers for delaying the start of his third-round match against Thomaz Bellucci.

The world number three defeated the Brazilian in straight sets despite suffering from a cold before the match.

"I just asked if I could play slightly later rather than first or second," Murray told reporters.

"Today I felt much better. I slept during the day yesterday two or three times. Today I got up, and I slept again before coming out to the courts. I felt much, much better. My voice feels like normal again.

"It's still dull obviously, but it feels more normal today and not blocked up or anything any more, which is good."

Murray will face Kevin Anderson in the fourth round.
