Kevin Anderson: 'I played the best match of my life to defeat Andy Murray'

Number 15 seed Kevin Anderson reveals that he played the best tennis of his career to defeat Andy Murray in four sets to advance to the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Kevin Anderson has admitted that he played one of the "best" matches of his life in his victory over Andy Murray in the fourth round of the US Open.

The 29-year-old defeated the world number three in four sets, including two tie-breakers, to advance to the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.

Anderson told ESPN: "I'm lost for words, playing against Andy is a very tough matchup. I just managed to keep my composure throughout and probably played one of the best matches of my life.

"It's not easy playing Andy because he's such a fighter and amazing player. To get through to the quarter-finals for the first time in my career, here in New York, it just feels amazing."

The number 15 seed will play Stanislas Wawrinka in the last eight.
