Novak Djokovic survives Gael Monfils scare

Novak Djokovic beats Gael Monfils from behind in the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic has reached the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters after coming from a set down to beat Gael Monfils in three.

It was a nervy start for the Serbian world number one as he lost his opening service game, with Monfils flying ahead and breaking to 15.

Djokovic broke back straight away but neither player managed to hold serve in the opening four games with the score at 2-2 following four consecutive breaks.

From that point on it went with serve and in the tie-breaker Monfils edged ahead before holding on to take it 7-4.

Djokovic responded superbly in the second set and broke at the first time of asking before adding another in the seventh to take it 6-2.

In the final set there was just one break of serve between them. Djokovic upped his game and broke to 30 in the seventh and saw out the match for a place in the semis.
