Jo-Wilfried Tsonga survives Andy Murray fightback

British number one Andy Murray loses in three sets to France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

Andy Murray came up short in his fightback against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto this evening, losing 7-6 4-6 6-4.

There was little between the two men in the opening set, each saving a break point on their way to a tie-break, which was edged by the Frenchman.

They remained close in the second, but the Briton broke late in the set to get the match back on level terms and force a deciding set.

Murray continued his momentum at the start of the third, claiming Tsonga's opening service game on his way to a 3-0 lead.

However, Tsonga won six of the next seven games to wrap in the match, finishing the encounter with an ace to secure his place in the semi-finals.

The 13th seed, who beat world number one Novak Djokovic in his last match, will play either Kevin Anderson or Grigor Dimitrov in the last four.
