Roberta Vinci through in Rome

World number 12 Roberta Vinci sees off Elena Vesnina in three sets at the Rome International.

Italy's Roberta Vinci came from a set behind to record a 6-7 7-5 6-4 victory over Elena Vesnina at the Rome International this afternoon.

World number 33 Vesnina looked as though she was going to cause an upset when she took the opening set 7-2 on a tie-break.

However, two breaks of serve in the remaining two sets allowed 30-year-old Vinci to advance at what is her home tournament.

She will now take on her compatriot Nastassja Burnett for a place in round of the clay competition.
