Sergiy Stakhovsky moves into Sydney International semi-finals

Sergiy Stakhovsky overcomes Marinko Matosevic in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the Sydney International.

Sergiy Stakhovsky has booked a place in the semi-finals of the Sydney International by defeating Marinko Matosevic 6-4 6-3.

Stakhovsky showed his intent in the opening set by securing five aces, while his opponent failed to take the only break point that came his way.

Despite showing some lack of composure through a double fault, Stakhovsky was able to hold off his competitor and take a one-set lead in the Ken Rosewall Arena.

Winning three break points in the second set ensured that Stakhovsky took a stronghold in the second set, and it was only a matter of time until he grabbed a place in the semi-finals.
