Novak Djokovic moves into semi-finals of China Open

Top seed Novak Djokovic grabs a place in the last four of the China Open courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Grigor Dimitrov.

Novak Djokovic has safely booked his place in the semi-finals of the China Open with a 6-2 6-4 victory over Grigor Dimitrov.

The top seed proved too strong for his opponent, setting up a potential meeting with Andy Murray in the next round in Beijing.

Djokovic made a strong start to the match and was able to find the first break of serve in the fourth game, eventually breaking Dimitrov once more in the eighth to take the opening set.

The second set proved to be a somewhat tighter affair, which saw both players lose serve on a number of occasions. After racing into a 5-3 lead, the world number one wasted two match points to allow Dimitrov a foothold in the contest.

He was unable to make the most of the temporary reprieve, though, with Djokovic capitalising on the Bulgarian's third loss of serve in the 10th game to secure a straight-sets win.

Murray takes on Marin Cilic later today to determine who will face the Serbian in the semis.
