Dominika Cibulkova wins the Mexican Open by defeating Christina McHale 7-6(3) 4-6 6-4 in the final.

Dominika Cibulkova has defeated Christina McHale in the final to win the Mexican Open.

The 24-year-old Slovak got the better of her American opponent 7-6(3) 4-6 6-4 in just under three hours on Saturday.

Top seed Cibulkova clinched the first set on a tie-break, but then slumped to a 6-4 loss in the second.

The third and decisive set was a close affair as well, but the world number 13 regained her rhythm and clinched it 6-4.
