Aljaz Bedene suffers defeat at Nottingham Open

British number two Aljaz Bedene loses in straight sets to eighth seed Adrian Mannarino in the second round of the Nottingham Open.

Aljaz Bedene has suffered defeat to Adrian Mannarino at the second-round stage of the Nottingham Open.

The 25-year-old, who was granted British citizenship earlier this year, had been hoping to impress his home crowd for the second time in 24 hours after seeing off Diego Schwartzman on Monday.

However, the Slovenian-born hitter was unable to get past eighth seed Mannarino, who defied two break points in the opening set before taking it on a tie-break.

The pair traded breaks in the second before the Frenchman struck for a third time in the match to wrap up a 7-6 6-4 victory.
