Maria Sharapova has confirmed that she has parted company with her coach Thomas Hogstedt.

The Russian worked with the Swede for nearly three years, but after a disappointing Wimbledon campaign that saw her eliminated in straight sets to Michelle Larcher de Brito, she has now formally parted ways with Hogstedt.

Sharapova released a statement on her website that read: "After almost three years of working together, Thomas Hogstedt and I decided to part ways.

"Due to personal issues, he was not able to travel in the near future and we both agreed it was the right time to move our separate ways.

"I am very thankful for all his work, and wish him much success in the future. I will be announcing my new coach in a few days. Very excited!"

The 26-year-old is currently ranked as the world number two.
