Laura Robson: 'Elena Baltacha death is impossibly sad'

British number one Laura Robson describes former tennis player Elena Baltacha's death from liver cancer aged 30 as "impossibly sad".

British number one Laura Robson has paid tribute to Elena Baltacha following the tennis star's death at the age of 30.

Baltacha passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning after losing her battle against liver cancer.

The former British number one, who clinched 11 titles throughout her career, announced in March that she was suffering with the disease after being diagnosed in January this year.

After hearing the news, Robson wrote on Twitter: "Impossibly sad. Forever a teammate. Sweet dreams Bally."

Baltacha retired from professional tennis in November last year.
