Rafael Nadal not motivated by breaking Grand Slam record

Rafael Nadal insists that he is not motivated by being at the top of the all-time list of Grand Slam champions.

Rafael Nadal has claimed that he is not motivated by winning the most Grand Slams in men's tennis.

The world number one clinched his 14th major title at the French Open on Sunday, putting him three behind all-time leader Roger Federer.

Despite closing in on Federer's record, Nadal insists that he does not care about topping the 17-time champion.

"Federer has 17 and I have 14 Grand Slams," the Spaniard is quoted as saying by the ATP's official website. "It's not a source of motivation for me. I'll follow my own path. Then when my career is over, we'll count.

"I don't really care that much about the records. I'll still play with a lot of intensity. I'll still be motivated."

Nadal's triumph at the French Open saw him win the tournament for the ninth time.
