Mardy Fish reveals retirement plans

American tennis player Mardy Fish confirms that he will retire following the conclusion of this year's US Open.

Mardy Fish has confirmed that he will call time on his career after the US Open, which gets underway late next month.

The 33-year-old, who once was ranked in the world's top 10, has played just one competitive match since August 2013 because of illness.

As a result, the right-hander has decided that following the conclusion of his campaign at Flushing Meadows, it will be the right time for him to retire.

Fish never got beyond the quarter-finals of any of the four Grand Slam tournaments, but he did win the Hopman Cup alongside Serena Williams in 2008.ID:235020: cacheID:235020:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:1374:
