Ivan Ljubicic to retire from tennis

Ivan Ljubicic announces his intention to retire from tennis following the Monte Carlo Masters next month.

Ivan Ljubicic has confirmed that he will retire from professional tennis.

The Croatian's last tournament of his 14-year career will be the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters in April.

"It's never an easy decision for any professional athlete to retire," Ljubicic said.

The 32-year-old reached third in the rankings during his peak in 2006 but currently sits 39th in the world.

"I look forward to the next stage of my life. Tennis has given me so much and I want to continue to stay involved and contribute in some ways," he added.

During his career Ljubicic has won 10 career titles as well as helping Croatia to Davis Cup success in 2005.
