Ivo Karlovic passes Goran Ivanisevic for ATP Tour aces record

Ivo Karlovic passes fellow Croat Goran Ivanisevic on the all-time ATP Tour aces list by reaching 10,247 for his career.

Ivo Karlovic has served more aces than anyone else on the ATP Tour after surpassing fellow Croat Goran Ivanisevic on the all-time list today.

Karlovic, who stands at 6'11", banged down 26 aces in his 7-6[5] 7-6[6] defeat to Pablo Cuevas at the China Open to reach 10,247 for his career, 10 more than Ivanisevic.

At the age of 36, Karlovic has now made 1,202 aces this year - a total only eclipsed by his 1318 in 2007.

However, he is going at a better rate of aces per match this year, averaging 24 per contest, which is three better than any previous season.

Career ace records only started being kept in 1991, three years after Ivanisevic turned professional.
