Gold medalist Rafael Nadal has been selected to carry the Spanish flag during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London later this year.
The world number two, who won gold in Beijing four years ago, was reportedly the unanimous choice of the country's Olympic committee.
Sailing duo Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez were also believed to have been considered for the role.
Nadal will not be the only tennis player carrying their nation's flag at the event. World number one Novak Djokovic has been awarded the responsibility for Serbia.
The opening ceremony will take place on July 27.
