Novak Djokovic into semi-finals as Bernard Tomic withdraws

Novak Djokovic progresses as Bernard Tomic withdraws from Indian Wells with a back injury.

Novak Djokovic has been granted passage into the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open without hitting a ball.

The Serbian's quarter-final opponent Bernard Tomic withdrew from the tournament with a back injury five hours before he was due to take to the court.

News of Tomic's injury was greeted with jeers from the fans at Indian Wells.

Djokovic will take on Great Britain's Andy Murray in the semi-finals, following his straight-sets victory over Feliciano Lopez in the last eight.
