Andy Murray "lucky" to beat Gael Monfils

Britain's Andy Murray admits that he was "lucky" to beat Gael Monfils in five sets in their French Open quarter-final.

Andy Murray has admitted that he was "lucky" to beat Gael Monfils in his quarter-final at the French Open earlier today.

The Scot took a two-set lead against the Frenchman, but was taken to a fifth set before winning the match 6-4 6-4 4-6 1-6 6-0.

The Wimbledon champion told Sky Sports News: "It was very tough conditions. It was very windy at the start. I started well but when the wind died down he began to play so much better. He's such an amazing athlete. I was lucky that he started the fifth set badly."

Murray will face defending champion and world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals later this week.
