Maria Sharapova beats Eugenie Bouchard to move into the Australia Open semi-finals.

Maria Sharapova has beaten Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets to progress to the Australian Open semi-finals.

The multiple Grand Slam winner broke her Canadian opponent in the first game of the match and, although Bouchard did improve as the set went on, she couldn't stop Sharapova breaking her again in the ninth game to win it 6-3.

Sharapova's power proved to much for Bouchard to handle, as the Russian broke her again early in the second set after a string of errors.

In a similar pattern to the first set, Sharapova broke Bouchard for the fourth time in the decisive game to wrap up a 6-3 6-2 win.

She will play Ekaterina Makarova in the semi-finals.
