World number two Roger Federer responds to Bernard Tomic's claims that now is the "perfect time" to face him.

Roger Federer has piled the pressure upon Bernard Tomic by saying that the strong-talking 20-year-old must live up to the hype that he has created when the pair meet at the Australian Open later today.

After beating Daniel Brands 6-7 7-5 7-6 7-6 in round two, home favourite Tomic said that now is the "perfect time" to face Federer and that he feels very confident of overcoming the world number two.

"I think it's important to be confident to a degree," Federer responded. "It seems he has that.

"Now obviously we both have to live up to a big match, big hype, and then we can talk about it afterwards.

"Obviously it's a difficult match-up in terms of early in the tournament, but I've got to be ready, so I'm looking forward to the match."

The pair are due on Rod Laver Arena at around 8am (GMT).
