GB's Jade Jones hopes World title will seal spot at Rio 2016 Olympics

Olympic taekwondo champion Jade Jones is hopeful that winning gold in the World Championships in Russia this week will push her to Rio 2016 qualification.

British taekwondo star Jade Jones has admitted that she will be aiming for a world title in Russia this week with the hope of claiming a place in the team for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The 22-year-old has failed in her previous bids for gold at World Championships as she finished second in 2011 and missed out on a podium place in 2013.

"Becoming world champion would be amazing and it would really take the pressure off," Jones told BBC Sport. "I would have so many points that I'd basically automatically qualify [for Rio] so I could pick and choose which competitions to do next year."

The Olympic gold medallist is currently world number one in the -57kg category.
