Kelly Sibley: 'Team England wanted table tennis medal'

Team England's Kelly Sibley expresses her disappointment at being knocked out of the Commonwealth Games women's table tennis team event by Malaysia.

Team England table tennis competitor Kelly Sibley has expressed her disappointment at being knocked out of the Commonwealth Games women's team event by Malaysia.

The 26-year-old took part in two games this afternoon, individually against Ng Sock Kim and alongside Tin-Tin Ho in the doubles against Ho Ying and Lee Wei, but both games were lost by the home nation.

Sibley told reporters: "I knew it was going to be difficult because we played them in the bronze-medal match in Delhi four years ago, and the girl I lost to is very quick.

"We all wanted a medal, so we're really disappointed. Singapore are one of the top teams and they are really up there, but after that any of the next six or seven seeds can medal.

"When we got drawn against Malaysia we knew it would be tough and unfortunately they came out on top."

The table tennis women's semi-finals will take place this afternoon, with Singapore taking on India and Malaysia facing Australia.
