Georgia Davies: 'Jazz Carlin success motivated me'

Wales's Georgia Davies admits that she was motivated to win the gold medal in the women's 50m backstroke after watching the success of teammate Jazz Carlin.

Team Wales swimmer Georgia Davies has revealed that she was inspired to win gold by watching teammate Jazz Carlin at the Commonwealth Games.

Davies won gold in the women's 50m backstroke after watching Carlin snatch the gold and silver medals in the 800m and 400m freestyle respectively at the Tollcross Swimming Centre.

"With the 50m race I don't have to think about tactics, it's just go from the start. In Delhi in 2010 I got a bronze and was fifth or sixth in the 100m. But I was feeling so motivated after watching Jazz," she told BBC Sport.

The 23-year-old also won the silver medal in the 100m backstroke in Glasgow.
