Great Britain's Andrew Willis has failed to add to his nation's medal tally after finishing fourth in the 200m breaststroke final at the World Championships in Kazan.
Willis was placed in lane two alongside defending champion Daniel Gyurta of Hungary for the showdown.
The Brit was part of the top five who broke away from the field at the halfway stage, but the 24-year-old dropped slightly behind before the final 50m.
Despite a late surge, it was too great an ask for Willis as he slipped to fourth place and touched the wall in 2:08.52.
Germany's Marco Koch took gold, Kevin Cordes of the USA snatched silver and Gyurta claimed bronze.
