British trio miss out on 50m freestyle semis in Baku

Three Team GB swimmers fail to make the semi-finals in the women's 50m freestyle at the European Games.

Great Britain's Darcy Deakin, Hannah Featherstone and Madeleine Crompton have failed to qualify for the 50m freestyle semi-finals at the European Games.

Deaking, who has one silver and two bronze medals to her name, clocked a time of 26.78s to narrowly miss out, with the last swimmers to clinch a semi-final spot finishing just 0.05 seconds faster.

Featherstone's time of 26.93s left her in 25th overall, while Crompton (27.41s) was further adrift in joint-38th place.

Denmark's Julie Jensen (25.55s) will be the one to beat when the swimmers compete for a place in the final later this afternoon.
