New Zealand's Lauren Boyle withdraws from FINA World Swimming Championships

New Zealand swimmer Lauren Boyle will not defend her world 800m freestyle world short course title because she is focusing on coaching issues.

New Zealand swimmer Lauren Boyle has pulled out of the FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha due to coaching issues.

The 26-year-old, who won gold in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the summer, holds the world 800m short course freestyle title, but will not defend her crown later this week.

Swimming New Zealand have claimed that rather than competing, Boyle is "engaged on determining her personal coaching plans".

Boyle worked with coach Fred Vergnoux in the run-up the Commonwealth Games.
