Jazz Carlin wins Wales's first swimming gold in 40 years

Jazz Carlin claims Wales's first swimming gold in 40 years with a Commonwealth Games record in Glasgow.

Jazz Carlin has set a new Commonwealth Games record on her way to winning gold for Wales in the women's 800m freestyle.

The 23-year-old ended her country's 40-year wait for a gold in the pool after finishing with a time of 8:18.11 at the Tollcross Swimming Centre in Glasgow.

New Zealand's Lauren Boyle finished over two seconds behind to take silver, while Brittany Maclean finished in the bronze medal position.

The gold medal takes Wales's overall tally at the 2014 Games to 21 medals.
