England's Nick Matthew: "I'm happy with my week's work"

England's Nick Matthew says that he is "happy with my week's work" having picked up a second squash medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England squash player Nick Matthew has declared himself happy with his showing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, despite narrowly missing out on a gold medal in today's men's doubles.

The 34-year-old, who won gold in the men's singles earlier this week, was unable to help overcome Australian pair David Palmer and Cameron Pilley, ensuring that he ended Glasgow 2014 with a silver medal rather than another gold.

"I'm happy with my week's work," Matthew told reporters. "I was on a hospital bed five weeks ago and had minimal court time but I have played every day of action here.

"I would have signed for what I have achieved beforehand, we both wouldn't have achieved what we have done in the game if we weren't disappointed by this loss."

The 34-year-old carried the flag for England in the Commonwealths opening ceremony.
