Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond believes that Friday's win against Gloucester Rugby has secured his side's survival in the Aviva Premiership.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond has claimed that Friday's victory over Gloucester Rugby has all but secured his side's survival in the Aviva Premiership.

The Sharks ran out 32-9 winners at the Salford City Stadium to move 13 points clear of bottom-placed London Welsh.

"Considering that I don't think [Welsh] have won a game since October, it's down to them to win games," Diamond told Sky Sports News.

"I think keeping the club in the Premiership is a great achievement and the players take a lot of the credit."

Sale return to action next Saturday when they travel to Northampton Saints.
